Being a three (3) year course, each year has two (2) semesters and there is examination at the end of each semester. The final qualifying examination comes after 2nd semester of the 3rd year. Successful candidates are allowed to apply for registration and licensing. Students who were not successful are given a chance to repeat the failed papers.
        Philosophy and Objectives
The Philosophy of the College is based on the extract from the Florence Nightingale’s writing when she said, “Good Nursing consists simply in observing little things which are common to all sick, and those which are particular to each sick individual”, and by transforming from the basic nursing program to preventive and rehabilitative health and emphasizing the health of women in their reproductive lives, their families and children, aimed at curbing maternal and child morbidity and mortality rates; bearing in mind that the internal and external environments of man are constantly in a state of flux with the result that there remains the need to achieve equilibrium desirable for optimal wellbeing in life”. In a nutshell: “Provision of enabling environment for integral nursing and midwifery education for unbiased holistic health care delivery in the spirit of compassion”.
Inherent in this philosophy is the need to preserve human dignity, integrity, and appreciating the uniqueness of every individual. Consequently, the following premises form the basis for the philosophy:

            - Man is a bio-psycho-social-spiritual being, and naturally has inherent needs that are affected by immediate environmental factors.

            - Peoples’ health undergoes constant bio-psycho-social and spiritual changes, and yearn for attention at one point or the other.

            - Provision of conducive learning environment for producing high quality nurses, capable of rendering standard and quality nursing care to individuals and communities of diverse kinds is imperative.

Given the above philosophy, the College will be able to:

            - Expose the students to problem situations, case studies, research and other learning experiences.

            - Expose the students to the tort of negligence applied to medical and hospital situations and consequences of breach of ethical standards in nursing.

            - Train students with comprehensive and sound foundation of the scientific basis of Nursing and Hospital practices as well as competence in working collaboratively with other members of the health team, thereby promoting team work.

            - Produce competent Public Health Nursing Officers capable of independent planning and implementation of Public Health Care services for individuals, families and communities in their places of work, industries, schools and homes.

            - Produce nurses with sound cognitive, affective and psycho-motor domains.

            - See God in every patient cared for.

            - Observe the Golden rule, “Do to others what you would want done to you
